This occurrence isn't the initial instance that a US military aircraft carrying a top government figure has experienced equipment failures.
In a previous incident this year, a United States Air Force aircraft carrying Marco Rubio to the German city of Munich was required to turn back to Washington DC after suffering a mechanical problem.
