Rob Edwards and Gary O'Neil are two of the early names in the frame to replace the former manager as manager of Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Pereira was dismissed on Sunday after the team's 10-match without a victory beginning to the Premier League campaign.
Furthermore both candidates - both of who have historic links to the club - are among the options to be considered by the club ownership.
The manager is presently at Middlesbrough, which would pose a potential obstacle to his hiring at Wolves' stadium.
However the ex- Luton head coach - who made over a century of games for the club during his time as a player - is considered a strong candidate for the position.
The 42-year-old is reportedly enjoys support from the club directors as they begin the search of hiring a new manager.
O'Neil is also appearing as a surprise contender, although he would be a surprising choice given he was released by the club in the previous winter.
The former West Ham midfielder is out of work meaning the club would not be required to provide any compensation.
