Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Player the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment on Wednesday evening indicating they have knowledge of claims of abuse made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of player Rashee Rice and had been in communication with the NFL.

The organization did not mention Rice by name in their statement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Claims Shared on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice by name, posted a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has kids with the football player, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Not on File

No official complaints were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.

Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles

The receiver missed the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his role in causing a crash on a Dallas highway that left several individuals hurt. Rice was given a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

On the field, he finished the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Chiefs went 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
