A woman indicted with harassing Kate McCann reportedly deposited her a voicemail message which questioned: "suppose I am Madeleine?"

Julia Wandelt, twenty-four, who a jury heard has consistently declared she was the disappeared Madeleine McCann, and her co-defendant are standing trial charged with harassing Kate and Gerry McCann between June 2022 and February 2025.

On Monday, the tribunal was told communication data and data recovered from phones logged Ms Wandelt persistently demanding Madeleine's mother for a biological test during 2023 and 2024.

Madeleine's vanishing in 2007 - when she was three years old during a vacation in Portugal - is one of the most widely reported child disappearance cases and continues to be open.

One phone message, presented in court, documented Ms Wandelt stating: "I know I'm fat and not pretty like Madeleine used to be, but I feel what I know."

While one recording of Ms Wandelt's recordings with Mrs McCann's answerphone said: "What if there is a slight possibility that I am Madeleine? What then? Is that not significant for you?"

"I don't want money, I have a living here in Poland, I only wish to know," the message continued.

The jury was told that via electronic messages, mobile messages and phone calls, Ms Wandelt requested a biological test, forwarded early photographs to her phone in a bid to display a similarity to Mrs McCann's vanished daughter, and asserted to have "flashbacks" from a early life with the McCanns.

An intelligence analyst, a data specialist with the police force who collated the data, informed the court there "didn't appear to be any responses" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt additionally reached out to close associates of the McCanns, according to the communication logs.

On 9 October 2024, Gerry McCann picked up a communication from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, saying she had "the wrong phone."

That day Ms Wandelt left a recording on Mrs McCann's recording saying "I will persist and I intend to demonstrate my position."

The court learned Mrs Spragg struck up a association through digital means with Ms Wandelt preceding assisting her on a appearance to the McCanns' property in the county in December 2024.

Communication data revealed Mrs Spragg had reached out via messaging service to Mrs McCann to say the news outlets had characterized Ms Wandelt as "mentally unstable" but that she ought to be taken seriously in the period preceding the appearance to the village, Leicestershire, in last December.
